DAILY PRAYER 109

Picture
Mirror Lake: Utah
Opening Prayer
Jesus, help me that I May know You and serve You with my whole heart and with a willing mind; for You search all hearts and understand every motive behind the thoughts.
-1 Chronicles 28:9

(silent reflection)

Prayer of the Bible
Shout for joy to God, all the earth; sing the glory of his name; give to him glorious praise!  Say to God, “How awesome are your deeds!  So great is your power that your enemies come cringing to you.  All the earth worships you and sings praises to you; they sing praises to your name.” Selah
-Psalm 66: 1-4

(Free expression of praise and thanksgiving to God)

Confession of Sin
You, O Lord, long to be gracious and rise to show compassion.  For you are a God of justice; and blessed are all  those who wait for you.
-Isaiah 30:18

(Time of silence for confession of sin)

The Words of Jesus
Simon Peter said, “Lord, not my feet only but also my hands and my head!” Jesus said to him, “The one who has bathed does not need to wash, except for his feet, but is completely clean. And you are clean, but not every one of you.” For he knew who was to betray him; that is why he said, “Not all of you are clean.”
-John 13: 9-11

(Think deeply on these life-giving words of Jesus)

Prayers for Ourselves and Others
O God, the strength of the weak and the comfort of sufferers: Mercifully accept our prayers and grant to your children the help of your power, that their sickness may be turned into health, and our sorrow into joy; through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen
-Book of Common Prayer

(Time to bring before God our own needs and the needs of others)

Closing Prayer

O Great God in whom all perfections are infinite,
I adore, praise, glorify, and love you.
My heart overflows at the contemplation of your beauty and splendor.
I rejoice that you are so perfect and holy
And I desire to participate in your perfections
To the degree that will give you the most glory.
-Catherine of Siena (1347-1380)
