Opening Prayer
Let me hear Your unfailing love in the morning, for have put my trust in You. Show me the way I should walk, for to You I lift up my soul -Psalm 143:8 (silent reflection) Prayer of the Bible Then I heard what seemed to be the voice of a great multitude, like the roar of many waters and like the sound of mighty peals of thunder, crying out, “Hallelujah! For the Lord our God the Almighty reigns. Let us rejoice and exult and give him the glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and his Bride has made herself ready; it was granted her to clothe herself with fine linen, bright and pure”—for the fine linen is the righteous deeds of the saints. And the angel said to me, “Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb.” -Revelation 19: 6-9 (Free expression of praise and thanksgiving to God) Confession of Sin Forgive me when I desert you, the Rock who begot me, and forget you, the God who gave me birth -Deuteronomy 32:18 (Time of silence for confession of sin) The Words of Jesus “You know the way to where I am going.” Thomas said to him, “Lord, we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way?” Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you had known me, you would have known my Father also. From now on you do know him and have seen him.” -John 14: 4-7 (Think deeply on these life-giving words of Jesus) Prayers for Ourselves and Others We call on you, Lord, be our helper and protector. Save the afflicted among us; have mercy on the lowly; raise up the fallen; appear to the needy; heal the ungodly; restore the wanderers of thy people; feed the hungry; ransom our prisoners; raise up the sick; comfort the faint-hearted. –Clement of Rome (died 99AD) (Time to bring before God our own needs and the needs of others) Closing Prayer Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways! For who has known the mind of the Lord, or who has been his counselor? Or who has given a gift to him that he might be repaid? For from him and through him and to him are all things. To Him be glory forever. Amen -Romans 11:33-36 |
