Opening Prayer
“O Lord help me to taste and see that, you my God, are good” -Psalm 34:2 (silent reflection) Prayer of the Bible I will tell of the kindnesses of the LORD, the deeds for which he is to be praised, according to all the LORD has done for us—yes, the many good things he has done for the house of Israel, according to his compassion and many kindnesses. He said, "Surely they are my people, sons who will not be false to me”; and so he became their Savior. -Isaiah 63:7-8 (Free expression of praise and thanksgiving to God) Confession of Sin Lord Jesus, I bring my sin, and the guilt and destructive behavior it has caused, to you on the cross. Thank you Lord! On the cross you made provision for my guilt to be removed, my wounds to be healed, and the power of sin in my behavior to be broken. Lead me now into the faith, expressed by obedience, which enables me to access this provision of your grace. -George Miley (1940- ) (Time of silence for confession of sin) The Words of Jesus Philip said to him, “Lord, show us the Father, and it is enough for us.” Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and you still do not know me, Philip? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? -John 14: 8-10 (Think deeply on these life-giving words of Jesus) Prayers for Ourselves and Others God, whom I serve with my whole heart in preaching the gospel of his Son, is my witness how constantly I remember you in my prayers at all times. -Romans 1:9-10 (Time to bring before God our own needs and the needs of others) Closing Prayer Worthy of praise from every mouth, of confession from every tongue, of worship from every creature, is your Glorious Name, O Father, Son, and Holy Spirit: you created the world with your imprint and by your compassion you saved it. To your majesty, O God, ten thousand times ten thousand bow down and adore, singing and praising without ceasing, and saying Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God of hosts; Heaven and earth are full of your praise; Hosanna in the highest -Nestorian Liturgy |
