Opening Prayer
Jesus you tell us that you are the vine, and we are the branches, and that branches that bear fruit may be pruned to bear more fruit. It is not easy to be pruned, it means to be cut, wounded, and to suffer loss. Jesus help us to remember that your hands also bind and heal, and help us to count it all joy to bear fruit for you. -A2J Community (silent reflection) Prayer of the Bible The Lord has established his throne in the heavens, and his kingdom rules over all. Bless the Lord, O you his angels, you mighty ones who do his word, obeying the voice of his word! Bless the Lord, all his hosts, his ministers, who do his will! Bless the Lord, all his works, in all places of his dominion. Bless the Lord, O my soul! -Psalm 103: 19-22 (Free expression of praise and thanksgiving to God) Confession of Sin Holy God, we confess our separation from you. From the womb we have suffered estrangement from Your Presence, and to this day we are guilty of both apathy and rebellion. Lord have mercy on us. We cry out to You now, come Lord Jesus. Indwell us, in-will us, be formed in our midst. Nothing else will do. Join us together as Your Body, that we may cry out with one voice. Make us a Church that can reach those who are most devastatingly separated from You. Amen -Leanne Payne. (1932-2015) (Time of silence for confession of sin) The Words of Jesus “I am the true vine, and my Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in me that does not bear fruit he takes away, and every branch that does bear fruit he prunes, that it may bear more fruit. Already you are clean, because of the word that I have spoken to you. Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me.” -John 15: 1-4 (Think deeply on these life-giving words of Jesus) Prayers for Ourselves and Others Oh, God, listen to my prayer; please open your ears. -Psalm 39:12 (Time to bring before God our own needs and the needs of others) Closing Prayer To him who is able to keep you from falling and to present you before His glorious presence without fault and with great joy. To the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forever! Amen -Jude 1:24, 25 |
