DAILY PRAYER 169

Picture
Yeghegnadzor, Armenia

Opening Prayer
Quiet my heart, O God, until I am still enough to hear you speak in the silence.  Help me in these few moments to stop, to listen, to wait, and come to recognize your presence with me, Amen.
-A2J Community

(silent reflection)

Prayer of the Bible
I have set the Lord always before me; because he is at my right hand, I shall not be shaken. Therefore my heart is glad, and my whole being rejoices; my flesh also dwells secure. For you will not abandon my soul to Sheol, or let your holy one see corruption.  You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy, at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.
-Psalm 16:8-11

(Free expression of praise and thanksgiving to God)

Confession of Sin
Jesus, hope of the penitent, how kind you are to those who ask,  how good you are to those who seek.  What must you be to these who find?
-Bernard of Clairvaux  (1090-1153)

(Time of silence for confession of sin)

The Words of Jesus
Jesus said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping? Whom are you seeking?” Supposing him to be the gardener, she said to him, “Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have laid him, and I will take him away.”Jesus said to her, “Mary.” She turned and said to him in Aramaic,“Rabboni!” (which means Teacher).  Jesus said to her, “Do not cling to me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father; but go to my brothers and say to them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’” Mary Magdalene went and announced to the disciples, “I have seen the Lord”
-John 20:15-18

(Think deeply on these life-giving words of Jesus)

Prayers for Ourselves and Others
They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.
-Acts 2:42

(Time to bring before God our own needs and the needs of others)

Closing Prayer
“Worthy is the Lamb who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing!” And I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea, and all that is in them, saying, “To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be blessing and honor and glory and might forever and ever!”
-Revelation 5:12-13
