Opening Prayer
Make my life a prayer to you, I wanna do what you want me to. No empty words and no white lies, no token prayers no compromise. I wanna shine the light you gave, thru your son you sent to save us. From ourselves and our despair, it comforts me to know you're really there -Keith Green (1953-1982) (silent reflection) Prayer of the Bible How precious is your steadfast love, O God! The children of mankind take refuge in the shadow of your wings. They feast on the abundance of your house, and you give them drink from the river of your delights. For with you is the fountain of life; in your light do we see light. -Psalm 36:7-9 (Free expression of praise and thanksgiving to God) Confession of Sin O God search me; shine your light into my soul that I may see its condition. May I be confident in your mercy, knowing well that you are restoring me even now. Reveal where I have left your path and speak gentle but firm words of correction. And guide me back to your life-giving ways and to your loving and strong embrace. -A2J Community (Time of silence for confession of sin) The Words of Jesus And he said to them, “Is a lamp brought in to be put under a basket, or under a bed, and not on a stand? For nothing is hidden except to be made manifest; nor is anything secret except to come to light. If anyone has ears to hear, let him hear.” And he said to them, “Pay attention to what you hear: with the measure you use, it will be measured to you, and still more will be added to you. For to the one who has, more will be given, and from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away.” -Mark 4:21-25 (Think deeply on these life-giving words of Jesus) Prayers for Ourselves and Others Here’s what I'm saying: Ask and you'll get; Seek and you'll find; Knock and the door will open. Don't bargain with God. Be direct. Ask for what you need -Luke 11:9-10 The Message (Time to bring before God our own needs and the needs of others) Closing Prayer Yours, O Lord, is the day; yours also is the night; grant that the Sun of Righteousness may abide always in our hearts, to drive away all wicked thoughts and to relieve our fears, that we may always know the light of Jesus' presence. Amen -Augustine of Hippo (354-430) |
