Opening Prayer
May I take courage and not be afraid, for you, Lord Jesus, are with me -Mark 6:50 (silent reflection) Prayer of the Bible Again one having the appearance of a man touched me and strengthened me. And he said, “O man greatly loved, fear not, peace be with you; be strong and of good courage.” And as he spoke to me, I was strengthened -Daniel 10:18-19 (Free expression of praise and thanksgiving to God) Confession of Sin Come, thou long expected Jesus, born to set thy people free; from our fears and sins release us, let us find our rest in thee. -Charles Wesley (1707-1788) (Time of silence for confession of sin) The Words of Jesus And he saw that they were making headway painfully, for the wind was against them. And about the fourth watch of the night he came to them, walking on the sea. He meant to pass by them, but when they saw him walking on the sea they thought it was a ghost, and cried out, for they all saw him and were terrified. But immediately he spoke to them and said, “Take heart; it is I. Do not be afraid.” And he got into the boat with them, and the wind ceased. And they were utterly astounded, for they did not understand about the loaves, but their hearts were hardened. -Mark 6:48-52 (Think deeply on the life and words of Jesus) Prayers for Ourselves and Others The Lord says, before they call I will answer; while they are still speaking I will hear. -Isaiah 65:24 (Time to bring before God our own needs and the needs of others) Closing Prayer May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face; the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand. -Celtic blessing |
