Opening Prayer
"Beloved of the Lord rest secure in Him, for He shields you all day long, and the one the Lord loves rests between His shoulders.” -Deuteronomy 33:12 (silent reflection) Prayer of the Bible The twenty-four elders fall down before him who is seated on the throne and worship him who lives forever and ever. They cast their crowns before the throne, saying, “Worthy are you, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they existed and were created.” -Revelation 4:10-11. (Free expression of praise and thanksgiving to God) Confession of Sin Put on then, as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive -Colossians 3:12-13 (Time of silence for confession of sin) The Words of Jesus And after six days Jesus took with him Peter and James and John, and led them up a high mountain by themselves. And he was transfigured before them, and his clothes became radiant, intensely white, as no one on earth could bleach them. And there appeared to them Elijah with Moses, and they were talking with Jesus. And Peter said to Jesus, “Rabbi, it is good that we are here. Let us make three tents, one for you and one for Moses and one for Elijah.” For he did not know what to say, for they were terrified. And a cloud overshadowed them, and a voice came out of the cloud, “This is my beloved Son; listen to him.” And suddenly, looking around, they no longer saw anyone with them but Jesus only. -Mark 9:2-8 (Think deeply on the life and words of Jesus) Prayers for Ourselves and Others If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. -John 15:7 (Time to bring before God our own needs and the needs of others) Closing Prayer Lord Jesus Christ, the Way, the Truth and the Life: let us not stray from you the Way, nor distrust you, the Truth, nor rest in any other but you, the Life; teach us by your Holy Spirit what to believe, what to do, and in what to take our rest; we ask it for your name’s sake -Erasmus (1466-1536) |
