Opening Prayer
Father, I need you, I feel alone and abandoned, help me to trust that you are here now wanting to meet with me. You are my Shepherd, restoring my soul, and gently guiding me. Open my eyes to see where you are at work within me and around me. -A2J Community (silent reflection) Prayer of the Bible Then I will go to the altar of God, to God my exceeding joy, and I will praise you with the lyre, O God, my God. Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you in turmoil within me? Hope in God; for I shall again praise him, my salvation and my God. -Psalm 43:4-5 (Free expression of praise and thanksgiving to God) Confession of Sin You, Oh Lord my God, are gracious and compassionate, and You will not turn Your face from me if I return to You. -2 Chronicles 30:9 (Time of silence for confession of sin) The Words of Jesus Now when they drew near to Jerusalem, to Bethphage and Bethany, at the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two of his disciples and said to them, “Go into the village in front of you, and immediately as you enter it you will find a colt tied, on which no one has ever sat. Untie it and bring it. If anyone says to you, ‘Why are you doing this?’ say, ‘The Lord has need of it and will send it back here immediately.’” -Mark 11:1-3 (Think deeply on the life and words of Jesus) Prayers for Ourselves and Others Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving. -Colossians 4:2 (Time to bring before God our own needs and the needs of others) Closing Prayer “O God, I have tasted Thy goodness, and it has both satisfied me and made me thirsty for more. I am painfully conscious of my need of further grace. I am ashamed of my lack of desire. O God, the Triune God, I want to want You; I long to be filled with longings; I thirst to be made more thirsty still. Show me Thy glory, I pray Thee, that so I may know Thee indeed. Begin in mercy a new work of love within me. Say to my soul, “Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away.” Lift me up from this misty lowland where I have wandered so long. In Jesus’ name. Amen” -A.W. Tozer (1897-1963) |
