DAILY PRAYER 341

Picture
Capitol Reef National Park: Utah
Opening Prayer
Lord Jesus, I have nowhere else to go; You have the words of eternal life.  I believe and know that You are the Holy One of God
-John 6:68-69

(silent reflection)

Prayer of the Bible
Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name!  Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits, who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit, who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy, who satisfies you with good so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
-Psalm 103:1-5

(Free expression of praise and thanksgiving to God)

Confession of Sin
Lord Jesus, I bring my sin, and the guilt and destructive behavior it has caused, to you on the cross. Thank you Lord! On the cross you made provision for my guilt to be removed, my wounds to be healed, and the power of sin to be broken. Lead me now into the faith, expressed by obedience, which enables me to access this provision of your grace.
-George Miley (1940- )

(Time of silence for confession of sin)

The Words of Jesus
Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.”
-Mark 16:16-18

(Think deeply on the life and words of Jesus)

Prayers for Ourselves and Others
O Lord, You answered me when I called to you; with your strength you strengthened me.
-Psalm 138:3

(Time to bring before God our own needs and the needs of others)

Closing Prayer
O Holy Spirit of God, abide with us; inspire all our thoughts; pervade our imaginations; suggest all our decisions; order all our doings.  Let the healing grace of your love, O Lord, so transform me that I may play my part in the transfiguration of the world from a place of suffering, death and corruption to a realm of infinite light, joy and love. Make me so obedient to your Spirit that my life may become a living prayer, and a witness to your unfailing presence.
