Opening Prayer
Triune God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit may I abide in your loving fellowship. May you fulfill in me all your promises. I am yours, ready day and night. Amen -A2J Community (silent reflection) Prayer of the Bible “For behold, I create new heavens and a new earth, and the former things shall not be remembered or come into mind. But be glad and rejoice forever in that which I create; for behold, I create Jerusalem to be a joy, and her people to be a gladness. I will rejoice in Jerusalem and be glad in my people; no more shall be heard in it the sound of weeping and the cry of distress. -Isaiah 65:17-19 (Free expression of praise and thanksgiving to God) Confession of Sin But now, Lord, what do I look for? My hope is in you. Save me from all my sins -Psalm 39:4-8 (Time of silence for confession of sin) The Words of Jesus Now there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon, and this man was righteous and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him. And it had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not see death before he had seen the Lord's Christ. And he came in the Spirit into the temple, and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him according to the custom of the Law, he took him up in his arms and blessed God and said, “Lord, now you are letting your servant depart in peace, according to your word; for my eyes have seen your salvation that you have prepared in the presence of all peoples, a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and for glory to your people Israel.” And his father and his mother marveled at what was said about him. -Luke 2:25-33 (Think deeply on the life and words of Jesus) Prayers for Ourselves and Others Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving. -Colossians 4:2 (Time to bring before God our own needs and the needs of others) Closing Prayer Heavenly Father, Lord Jesus Christ, indwelling Holy Spirit—I hear you whisper, “Your life is unfolding right here where you are. I am always breaking in with something new and fresh and alive. I have prepared a place for you in my plan that will give you the greatest joy and satisfaction in life. Be part of my new creation!” Lord Jesus, give me courage to leave the details to you and follow. May your will be done in my life. Amen. -Renovaré prayer |
