Opening Prayer
May the Lord be blessed for ever for the great gifts that he has continually heaped upon me, and may all that he has created praise him. Amen -Teresa of Avila (1515-1582) (silent reflection) Prayer of the Bible Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in him. Fear the Lord, you his saints, for those who fear him lack nothing. The lions may grow weak and hungry, but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing. -Psalm 34:8-10 (Free expression of praise and thanksgiving to God) Confession of Sin Forget not the Lord’s benefits; who forgives all your sins and heals all your infirmities; who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with faithful love and compassion -Psalm 103:2,4 (Time of silence for confession of sin) The Words of Jesus When they found him on the other side of the sea, they said to him, “Rabbi, when did you come here?” Jesus answered them, “Truly, Truly, I say to you, you are seeking me, not because you saw signs, but because you ate your fill of the loaves. Do not work for the food that perishes, but for the food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give to you. For on him God the father has set his seal. -John 6: 25-27 (Think deeply on these life-giving words of Jesus) Prayers for Ourselves and Others Hear my cry, O God; listen to my prayer. From the ends of the earth I call to You. -Psalm 6:1 (Time to bring before God our own needs and the needs of others) Closing Prayer Oh LORD may Your name endure forever; may it continue as long as the sun. All nations will be blessed through You, and they will call You blessed. We praise You LORD God, the God of Israel, who alone does marvelous deeds. Praise be to Your glorious name forever; may the whole earth be filled with Your glory. Amen and Amen. -Psalm 72: 17-19 |
