Opening Prayer
‘Peace I leave you; my peace I give to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not let them be afraid’ -Jesus (silent reflection) Prayer of the Bible Oh come, let us sing to the Lord; let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation! Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise! -Psalm 95:1-2 (Free expression of praise and thanksgiving to God) Confession of Sin Turn to me and be gracious to me, for I am lonely and afflicted. The troubles of my heart have multiplied; free me from my distresses. Look on my affliction and my pain and forgive all my sins. -Psalm 25:16-18 (Time of silence for confession of sin) The Words of Jesus And the Father who sent me has himself borne witness about me. His voice you have never heard, his form you have never seen, and you do not have his word abiding in you, for you do not believe the one whom he has sent. -John 5:37-38 (Think deeply on these life-giving words of Jesus) Prayers for Ourselves and Others God, whom I serve with my whole heart in preaching the gospel of his Son, is my witness how constantly I remember you in my prayers at all times. -Romans 1:9-10 (Time to bring before God our own needs and the needs of others) Closing Prayer” Jesus, You shall be first in my life. I want to talk with You and work for You. I want to think everything with You, making all my decisions with You. Nothing shall be done without You, for I do not want to shut You out of my life. Bind me tightly to You, so that nothing—No work, no burden, no other interest, no joy can separate us during this day. So may I constantly live in Your holy presence -M. Basilea Schlink (1904-2001) |
