Opening Prayer
Lord Jesus we trust that you understand our condition, and know intimately our tragedies, losses and pain. You bear them all in love, affirming our condition, carrying our sorrows to the end, all the way to the heart of God. Quiet our hearts enough to hear you speak out of the silence. Help us in these few moments to listen, to wait, to be still, and allow your presence to envelop us. In Jesus name, Amen -A2J Community (silent reflection) Prayer of the Bible Why do the nations rage and the peoples plot in vain? The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord and against his Anointed, saying, “Let us burst their bonds apart and cast away their cords from us.” Now therefore, O kings, be wise; be warned, O rulers of the earth. Serve the Lord with fear, and rejoice with trembling. -Psalm 2:1-3; 10-11 (Free expression of praise and thanksgiving to God) Confession of Sin Lamb of God, You take away the sins of the world: have mercy on us. Lamb of God You take away the sins of the world: have mercy on us. Lamb of God, You take away the sins of the world: grant us peace. -Roman Missal (Time of silence for confession of sin) The Words of Jesus I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” -John 16:33 (Think deeply on these life-giving words of Jesus) Pray for ourselves and others Help us Lord, to rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, and be constant in prayer. Amen -Romans 12:2 (Time to bring before God our own needs and the needs of others) Closing Prayer "Living God, at times we are strangers on earth, disconnected by the violence all around us. And you breathe upon us the Spirit of peace like a gentle breeze. Transfigure the deserts of our doubts and so prepare us to be bearers of reconciliation wherever you place us, until a hope of peace arises in our world” -Brother Roger (1915-2005) |
