Opening Prayer
You are my light and my salvation, O Lord; whom shall I fear? You are the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? -Psalm 27:1 (silent reflection) Prayer of the Bible “The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold and my refuge, my savior; you save me from violence. I call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised, and I am saved from my enemies. -2 Samuel 22:2-4 (Free expression of praise and thanksgiving to God) Confession of Sin Oh Lord, help me that may I produce fruit in keeping with repentance. Amen -Matthew 3:8 (Time of silence for confession of sin) The Words of Jesus As the living Father sent me, and I live because of the Father, so whoever feeds on me, he also will live because of me. This is the bread that came down from heaven, not like the bread the fathers ate, and died. Whoever feeds on this bread will live forever. When many of his disciples heard it, they said, “This is a hard saying; who can listen to it?” But Jesus, knowing in himself that his disciples were grumbling about this, said to them, “Do you take offense at this? Then what if you were to see the Son of Man ascending to where he was before? It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh is no help at all. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life. -John 6: 57-63 (Think deeply on these life-giving words of Jesus) Prayers for Ourselves and Others I call to you, O LORD, every day; I spread out my hands to you. -Psalm 88:9 (Time to bring before God our own needs and the needs of others) Closing Prayer Lord we pray, for this day, that it may not be wasted, but that it might be used in some good positive way: to know thee better; to cultivate spiritual things; to do good unto all men; to witness your saving grace to a world thats dying. And now may grace and mercy and peace from God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit be with us. -A.W. Tozer (1897-1963) |
