Opening Prayer
“By day the LORD directs his love, at night his song is with me—a prayer to the God of my life” -Psalm 42:8 (silent reflection) Prayer of the Bible Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to him; bless his name! For the Lord is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations. -Psalm 100: 4-5 (Free expression of praise and thanksgiving to God) Confession of Sin We come to You and pray that, for Jesus's sake, and through the virtue of the blood once shed for many for the remission of sins, You would give us perfect pardon of every sin of the past. Blot out, O God, all our sins like a cloud, and let them never be seen again. -Charles Spurgeon (1834-1892) (Time of silence for confession of sin) The Words of Jesus “Yet there are some of you who do not believe.” For Jesus had known from the beginning which of them did not believe and who would betray him. He went on to say, “This is why I told you that no one can come to me unless the Father has enabled them.” -John 6: 64-65 (Think deeply on these life-giving words of Jesus) Prayers for Ourselves and Others God can do anything, you know—far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams! He does it not by pushing us around but by working within us, his Spirit deeply and gently within us. -Ephesians 3:21 (Time to bring before God our own needs and the needs of others) Closing Prayer Jesus, you have sent us your Spirit. Help us to be constantly aware of your presence in our daily life. May the power of your love and the power of your cross allow us to forgive all who have wounded us. May every hurt we have caused others be healed by the power of your Holy Spirit. Protect us from injuring any relationships today and heal any damaged relationships already present. Holy Spirit, if possible help us to heal wounds we have inflicted. Triune God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit fill us with your presence, now and forever. Thank you for doing this today. Amen -A2J Community |
