Opening Prayer
Father God, it is difficult to admit to myself and to others my weaknesses and failures, but You know all too well this about me. Help me to remember You are God and I am not, and help me to embrace that I am Yours. Amen -A2J Prayer (Silent reflection) Prayer of the Bible You, O Lord, Most Hight, are awesome, the great King over all the earth! You are the King of all the earth, and I will sing your praise. You reign over the nations; You are seated on Your holy throne -Psalm 42: 2,7,8 (Free expression of praise and thanksgiving to God) Confession of Sin Let us with trust and assurance confess our sins to God, because we know that, the Lord is gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. The Lord is good to all, and his mercy is over all that he has made. -Psalm 145: 8,9 (Time of silence for confession of sin) The Words of Jesus “The hour is coming when neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem will you worship the Father. You worship what you do not know; we worship what we know, for salvation is from the Jews. But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him.” -John 4:21-24 (Think deeply on these life-giving words of Jesus) Prayers for Ourselves and Others Here’s what I'm saying: Ask and you'll get; Seek and you'll find; Knock and the door will open. Don't bargain with God. Be direct. Ask for what you need -Luke 11:9-10 (Time to bring before God our own needs and the needs of others) Closing Prayer Be thou a bright flame before me, be thou a guiding star above me, be thou a smooth path below me, be thou a kindly shepherd behind me, today, tonight, and forever -Columba (521-597) |
