Opening Prayer
I wait for you, O God, my soul waits and in your word I hope. My soul waits for you, O God, more than those who watch for the morning, more than those who watch for the morning. -Psalm 130:5-6 (silent reflection) Prayer of the Bible “Blessed be the name of God forever and ever, to whom belong wisdom and might. He changes times and seasons; he removes kings and sets up kings; he gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding; he reveals deep and hidden things; he knows what is in the darkness, and the light dwells with him. -Daniel 2: 20-22 (Free expression of praise and thanksgiving to God) Confession of Sin Loving Father, please accept my distractions, my apathy, and my wandering heart and forgive me all of my sin and bring me to your loving embrace. -A2J Community (Time of silence for confession of sin) The Words of Jesus “Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of his own accord, but only what he sees the Father doing. For whatever the Father does, that the Son does likewise. For the Father loves the Son and shows him all that he himself is doing -John 5:19-20 (Think deeply on these life-giving words of Jesus) Prayers for Ourselves and Others Blessed be the Lord! For he has heard the voice of my pleas for mercy. The Lord is my strength and my shield; in him my heart trusts, and I am helped. -Psalm 28: 6-7 (Time to bring before God our own needs and the needs of others) Closing Prayer Let me hold fast to You, beautiful Lord, whom the angels themselves yearn to look upon. Wherever You go, I will follow You….You carry my grief, because You grieve for my sake. You passed through the narrow doorway from death to life, to make it wide enough for all to follow. Nothing can ever now separate me from Your love. Amen -Bernard of Clairvaux (1090-1153) |
