DAILY PRAYER 32

Picture
Berlin, Germany
Opening Prayer
One thing You have spoken, O Lord, two things I have heard:  That You, O God are strong and that You, O Lord are loving.
-Psalm 62: 11-12

(Silent reflection)

Prayer of the Bible
“Great and amazing are your deeds, O Lord God the Almighty!  Just and true are your ways, O King of the nations!  Who will not fear, O Lord, and glorify your name?  For you alone are holy.  All nations will come and worship you, for your righteous acts have been revealed.”
-Revelation 15: 3-4

(Free expression of praise and thanksgiving to God)

Confession of Sin
When I have sinned against You, and when I have turned back to You and confessed my sin, hear from heaven and forgive my sin and restore me.  Teach me the good way in which I should walk
-I Kings 8:33-34, 36

(Time of silence for confession of sin)

The Words of Jesus
“Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.” “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.  That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.  Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’  The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.”
-John 3: 3, 5-8

(Think deeply on these life-giving words of Jesus)

Prayers for Ourselves and Others
Lord, help us to bear one another’s burdens and so fulfill the law of Christ
-Galatians 6:2

(Time to bring before God our own needs and the needs of others)

Closing Prayer
Heavenly Father, Father of my Lord Jesus Christ, I bless You since You have come near to be mindful of me, poor as I am.  Father of mercies and God of all comfort, I give You thanks for at times refreshing me with Your consolation, undeserving as I am of any and all such gifts.  To You, Father, together with Your only begotten Son, and the Holy Spirit, the Comforter, I offer praise and glory, now and for ever.
-Thomas a’ Kempis (1380-1471)
